Our services are based upon the unique needs of our clients and we value the importance of family involvement in the therapuetic process.
Occupational Therapy - The Center for Therapy occupational therapists focus on improving your child’s function in the everyday activities in his life. Such activities may include playing, eating, dressing, hygiene and learning. Our occupational therapists help a child enhance his fine motor skills, such as buttoning, holding a fork, coloring, and combing hair. Occupational therapy also addresses how a child processes sensations (sensory integration) and develops gross motor coordination, as well as social and emotional skills, helping the child deal with his environment and function more fully.
Parent Driven Programs - Every parent wants to connect with their child—laughing and playing as well as teaching and inspiring. It can be challenging to interact with a child with special needs. We provide programs that enhance the relationship between parent and child, promoting a deeper bond through activities designed to address emotional development.
The Listening Program - The Listening Program is a Music-Based Auditory Stimulation method that is used to train the auditory skills needed to effectively listen, learn, and communicate. The Listening Program benefits people of all ages starting as young as age two.
Interactive Metronome - Interactive Metronome combines the concept of a musical metronome with a patented technology program that accurately measures, assesses, and improves a person's rhythm and time. It is the only program that uses a patented auditory guidance system plus interactive exercises to improve the foundational skills essential for learning and development. Interactive Metronome addresses attention and focus, motor control and coordination, language processing, reading and math fluency, and ability to regulate aggression and impulsivity.
Handwriting Without Tears - Handwriting without Tears is a simple, developmentally based method that makes handwriting easy to teach and easy to learn. It is inclusive of children with all abilities, using multisensory teaching aids and methods. HWT offers clear and easy to follow lesson plans, following a developmentally-based learning sequence. Handwriting Without Tears address printed and cursive handwriting.
Brain Train--We are the only authorized provider of Brain Train in the Northwest Louisiana area. Brain Train uses its computerized mental exercises and cognitive testing software to help people of all ages with head injuries, ADD/ADHD, autism, learning disabilities, and other cognitive impairments.
Feeding Programs--Our therapists have extensive experience with children referred to as "picky eaters." Using a combination of sensory stimulation, behavioral intervention, and development of the oral motor skills, we work to increase food and liquid by mouth.
The Alert Program--We offer this innovative program as support for children, parents, teachers, and therapists to choose appropriate strategies to change or maintain states of alertness. Everyone learns what to do when your child's engine is "running high" or has shifted to "low". The Alert Program has been adapted for preschoolers through adults, with a variety of identified delays.
Evaluations and Home Programs--The Center for Therapy evaluates children from birth through young adulthood. Assessment tools determine perceptual/fine motor development, self-care skills, eye-hand coordination, relationship skills, sensory processing skills, handwriting skills, gross motor development, oral motor development, and all areas of a child's development. Home programs are provided to a child's parent to provide reinforcement of evaluation goals in the home setting.
More than one therapy at a time (co-treatment) You may find your child benefits from more than one type of therapy. In many cases, we combine therapy sessions so she simultaneously receives speech therapy and occupational therapy, for example, maximizing her therapy session and your time.
Our services change and grow The services we offer may change depending on the expertise of the professionals on staff and the training they’ve received. We are constantly structuring our services around the needs of families and the training of our professionals.
